Nightmares

The world is red, is something wrong with my eyes? I see fire all around me, growing hotter, The flames so close cause pain to me, and I am taken by surprise, To see hands floating about, laughter dancing upon water. The world is blue, the trees seem to cry, is this even real? I see my family, my friends, I run to them, thankful they came; But the closer I get, the further they feel, They all look at me with fixed eyes filled with shame. The world turns grey, I feel chilled to the bone; Every contour of every aspect of every person I tried to defend; Is now carved in this stone; Is this world coming to an end? I don't want another innocent soul to hear my scream, I thank God this was only just a dream.

I was sitting on the couch one day trying to figure out what to do for my poetry unit on Shakespearean Sonnets, and this is what I created. Enjoy! :)
