Nightmares

As I looked into the broken mirror-

All I could see was blood; bright red.

This once paceful and calming room,

Now tells stories of fear and dread.

If these walls could talk

They would instead scream-

Out the memories would come,

When nightmares took over dreams.

Nightmares of being abandonned;

Feeling isolated while being surrounded.

By what used to be and what could have been,

The love we shared now destroyed and pounded.

No regrets, no remorse, no feelings at all-

It was too late before I realized your schemes.

And as I stand here looking at the bloody mirror,

I'm reminded of the day when nightmares took over dreams.
