nightmares
Our beautiful ghosts illuminate the room, bringing back memories of many moons ago
The symphonies and melodies of our hearts drowned out by the dark
But what if the ghosts aren't so beautiful
The faces they plaster on, wishing to be loved and cradled in arms
But what lies beneath?
What happens when the shield is taken away, when the world collapses
Right in front of our eyes
What happens when our frivolous ghosts turn to nightmares
Creeping back through our brain to haunt the life they never had
So they cause us the pain of taking what was once theirs
Happiness
Certainty
Safety
