Nights ...

Romans 14:17 “The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”

When depressed can I, as I travel through the night,

by faith hang on until joy comes in the morning?

For the life of faith and that of the will

should be intertwined with God’s in our mourning.

When I break down is my life growing?

When I am asleep, is it then that I'm truly living?

Only then I seem delivered from all my emotions,

as my feelings are ignored and my flesh to be for-giving.

Then when I awake and nothing seems there

as I stare in the darkness deep into the night.

I don’t feel too much until memories trigger

the way I'm supposed to be or think about what's right.

At that very moment, my feelings take control.

Is that when responsibility shuffles and toils?

Is that when duty calls and principles are defined?

As one prepares for battle while already dividing the spoil?
