Nights With Her

I find her ivory skin

and enticing grin

far too consuming

to resist.

She finds late eves

as moments of peace

betwixt my fuming

of nicotinic mist.

And the laughter from her heart—

as dazzling as her favorite melodies,

as forgotten as the harmonies

heard only

through needle and vinyl.

She’s a voyager

among the coordinates of the stars;

though unaware,

they lie embedded within her eyes.

And midnight drives

seem to be the perfect time

to design our own

world

of solitude.
