nights like tonight

It's nights like this that make me wonder-

Is it my allergies or am I amidst some daunting depression.

I remember old heartbreaks tonight

And scoff at myself for ever feeling anything over something so small

But in the past, you never know

It might just be the music

Some notes just make you want to cry

No sense to it, it just manages to break your heart

And I have no real reason to be sad

But that a damn pathetic excuse to try to stop this force of nature

It isn't sadness,

It's merely melancholy

That's bound to happen every now and again

I'll just go on belting along with sad songs

Since that's prone to solve everything, albeit temporarily

I have no reason, it's just in the air

On nights like tonight
