the nineteen year old blues

Empty

Empty is what I am

It is like my mind is so far gone I don’t even know where I am

I can’t see what used to make me happy

The friends who once filled my heart with joy

Can barely get a text back

I’m alone

So alone

But I did this to myself

It’s as though it’s much easier to keep the distance

But the distance makes it hard to go back

Back

Back to when I was normal

Not even a little bit stressed

Nineteen, and I don't even know who I am

Am I depressed?

Depressed?

I really don’t know

But as I sit here thinking to myself that no one understands

I read a poem

Poem?

Yes a poem who’s words click inside my head

I am not the only one

Tears run down my face

May not know myself, but alone?

Alone is not what I am

Thank you for the words

Words

Words, I found myself in

Words I found comfort in

And words that reassured me

Isn’t it so crazy what words can do?
