Ninth Grade
It's not a school, but a maze.
All the winding hallways, making my head spin.
The countless classrooms, rendering me speechless.
All of the unfamiliar faces, making me feel insignificant.
It's more like I've moved rather than moved up.
The people who don't know me but make a preconceived notion of who I am.
The numerous stacks of work, leaving little free time.
The progressively harder subjects, making my head pound.
The teachers that either are obsessed with your wellbeing or are just in it for the paycheck with no in-between.
The unfamiliarity of everything, scaring me to the brink of crying.
The status quo, tainting even the purest of forms.
The vulnerability accompanied with being in a new environment, leaving you to feel like a lone chicken cornered by foxes.
The mixed emotions swirling through your head, making you dizzy beyond repair.
The amount of innocence that is carelessly tossed into the trash by the bottom feeders.
The ignorance that unmistakably makes its presence known.
Behold the ninth grade in all of its glory.
