No Absence of Color, A Sonnet

Blue is the sky on a clear summer day

Blue is the ocean with ships scattered about

Blue is what I am when you are away

Blue is a color we can’t live without

Red is a rose; its petals are quite bright

Red is my heart with its love all aglow

Red is the sunset that’s just before night

Red is a color the world needs to show

Yellow is the brilliant and blinding sun

Yellow is the bliss when I am with you

Yellow is a bee with work to be done

Yellow are lines along the avenue

Colors are everywhere, dear; you must see

Without any color, dull we would be
