No End in Sight
Of all the world's impurities,
of all the world's indignities,
all the sorrows and the pains
stands an ever-growing shame.
A concept so simple and easy
yet so distant from man's mind,
the thing I would change
requires a transformation of heart.
Have we not lived to destroy?
All that is good,
all that is innocent,
all that is pure.
We too often forget or ignore
the immensity of the universe,
the beauty of nature,
the master of creation.
We've become so entitled,
unappreciative,
lacking respect for all that we have
and letting nothing stand in the way of what we want
There's nothing too big or too small for man-
no bump in the earth that can't be leveled,
no creature that can't be subdued;
we're an indestructible force.
Forests, species, oceans
cut down by ignorance,
squashed by disrespect,
polluted by hatred.
There is no end in sight.
If I could change the heart of people,
I would give them eyes to see the sublime.
I would make them feel love for their home.
I would introduce them to creation.
