No False Bravado

Location

No false bravado, before your eyes-

What you see is what you get, no cloak no disguise.

Despise me if you must, for I follow no one-

I choose my own path, for I am my fathers’ son.

I make no excuses, for there’s none to be made-

I take on all challenges and passed with high grades.

I distance myself, from those who dare not try-

For in life we need obstacles to keep us in stride.

The light shines bright upon my accomplishments-

From the class, to tutoring, and extra-curricular events.

Am I proud of myself? Yes, I say that I am-

Am I proud of my life? Yes, and please understand.

I’m not being conceited; in life we’re all dealt a hand-

It’s how we use our minds; it’s how we take a stand.

To do what we must for each individual-

Have trust in our decisions, and live with the residuals.

I know I chose right, I give it all and not half-

I follow no one, I chose my own path.
