Filters, angles, and captions galore

Seldom an honest candid.

Our true selves we cannot adore

Individuality is taken for granted.

Pseudo self-love, premeditated moments, and feigned spontaneity.

Without white-edged photographs and valencia, who really are we?

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder

Not the eyes of every passerby.

Each person is genuine so why not be bolder?

Instead of inherently classify.

Behind the lenses of the camera my mind is clouded with concern;

Suddenly our unique idiosyncrasies had to be learned.

Such scrutiny of the mirror and the reflection so fraudulent.

Instead embrace that bare image, for your qualities are opulent!

I am a girl unlike any other that has ever walked the earth.

Long dark hair, big brown eyes, and a thin frame are not my sole worth.

These superficial features I may possess are all that a photo can capture.

Inside, however, is a young lady of a totally different stature.

Within me there is depth that flash could never pierce:

Quirky, bashful, and intuitively pragmatic.

Loyal, diligent, fierce.

What defines us is far beyond an instagram,

So take with you the words that I have said.

Don't rely just on one picture to say  “I am”,

But be your confident, authentic, greatest self instead.
