Are you sure?
No Filter
Are you sure?
Rarely.
I doubt , and question and nit pick.
And back track, and rethink.
Then I fake it until I make it
And I’ve yet to make it, so
I exaggerate my work load
And highlight what I have done
Subtly
As I lose myself in Television plotlines
While playing puzzles games
To turn off my
Not so busy mind.
Not so all-knowing and impressive brain
Impressive
Just enough to slide your eyes
Away from my last mistake
Carelessness
Toward something I handled well.
Well- enough to make you trust me
Even when
I can’t trust myself
To maintain composure
Or balance time
Or keep steady and
Rack up things for the resume
Lucky, the right words can make
Down
Seem
Up
And salvage wasted opportunities that
Bite hard enough
To leave a line
Down the center of my forehead
Invisible in the right light
And with the right smile
Not too big, but enough to be convincing.
