No Filter Means Flaws

No filter means not perfect
but who wants to be that anyway?
No filter means flaws
but isn't it our flaws that make us unique?

I was born into a society that can't make up its mind.

Be Yourself!
-just not the weird you, be the normal, plain, mainstream you.

Encouraged to express individuality, reprimanded for being too different;
It's easier to just blend in with the crowd.
Easier to just put on a filter.

Because without the filters

              .... who knows what awaits?

Perhaps a silly girl who loves baggy clothing,
or a fun-loving boy with a passion for the theater.

A birthmark she's covered with makeup and filters,
a prominent nose she hides through the photograph's angle.

We've all hidden behind filters.
We've all tried to portray a false image of ourselves.
Perhaps the person we wish we could be,
Perhaps the person society wants us to be.

                  No filter means not perfect.
           No filter means flaws.

    My flaws make me unique.
