No Goodwine Allowed
I wanted to show off to
my friend that I had a funny coincidental
type because of my track record of crushes, brown hair, a little taller than me, kinda quiet.
But I wished I liked my friend instead cause she’s loud and she’s like everything I am and I like me and her and our fragile ego and she’d tell me straight and agree that void is so scary, huh
Not sure if this even counts,
since I’m too good at multitasking
I wonder what would happen if i actually
did kiss (a hard word)
This One.
Quick calculation: unfathomably impossible
There’s three of them, all with the same first name with the same hair color and color which I just realized and all three of which I eyed at some point
I became friends with two actually,
Though it was kind of funny how I ended up not caring
Two, already.
And if I had the same void with you, I’d like that but also not or not care how would I know
I didn’t know your last name, even,
now I know it’s Goodwine (I’ll drown my head in some of that stuff
if word of this ever gets out), like a batch of some cozy wine that
I would realistically throw up at but it’s the thought that matters anyway.
But i don’t think I’d wanna touch their hair, it’s kinda
Greasy.
Maybe it isn’t since they probably
use products but i don’t
know
because I don’t know you enough (do you have monolids or lidded eyes or…?)
And you were in this dream the other day and the next morning I drew you in class (first time ever on anyone, congrats) while ignoring how J.D. Rockefeller monopolized the oil industry
I’d wanna touch their face and stare, I’d probably look away first or I’ll look forever, but I want to draw and look at the poor work all day and die of seeing it so I wouldn’t be able to look at you again, and you’ll never know. But if you knew we’d know that I’m still wanting to draw you.

Your Poem's Voice
Deeply personal crush narrative with specific autobiographical details.
Extremely dense; multiple overlapping ideas, observations crammed throughout.
Mixed: attraction and affection tempered by doubt, anxiety, self-deprecation.
Restless, stream-of-consciousness pacing; fragmented syntax creates kinetic urgency.
Long-form prose-poem; well over 61 lines when properly line-broken.
Moderate use of metaphor (void, wine, drawing); mostly declarative with bursts of ornament.
Pure lyric internal monologue; introspective voice throughout, no dramatic distance.
