No Greed

No Greed, No Indeed;

No neighbors slaying trees

to harvest their vicious cash --

slashing the earth, killing the birds, infecting the water

with their filthy

poisons,

hacksaws,

gravel.

No politicians lying to me

for fame and fresh millions of greenbacks --

cutting down bills, crushing the poor, smashing any opposition

with their lustful

pens,

tongues,

suit-jackets.

No sir.

Time to replant what has been lost,

slay our greed with a virtuous heart --

put on gardening gloves of empathy,

put down our ravenous torches of gluttony

burning in the fuel of cash --

extinguish it with a river of generous water --

No Greed, No Indeed
