No Hidden Meaning

In English class all the wrong questions were asked

leading students astray

but I remember the day

when I questioned the questions

Why does it matter what the author meant by what he wrote?

would it not matter more what I felt when I read it?

Isn't the audience more important than the author?

Trying to find the authors meaning

ruins the authors purpose for writing

to express oneself

and others to feel the same

no cifer required

no hidden meaning

besides the one you feel
