No Longer Artificial

Doing everything you can in order for it to keep standing

The moment that flower falls, that’s the end

It’s appreciation and meaning become dead

It’s funny how it takes death for people to appreciate love

You should have been able to admire and glorify love at its full potential

Not wait till the end when it has withered away to learn

Then you hear the countless outcries…

I should have taken care of her

I should have made time

I should have expressed my feelings

I should have…

Yes, you should have

But, because I still love you, you are forgiven

Just because I have forgiven you, that does not mean I am coming back

Broken I am left and scared to trust again

This lack of trust leaves me with doubts and frighten to try again

Never truly knew this grand amount of impact you would have in my life

But, by some miracle, the light at the end of the tunnel appears

This light has happiness and it’s not artificial

At first, I was hesitant and thought that it was a joke

My trust issues for a time took over my own individual judgment

Yet you had patients with me and cared to my broken wounds

You did not request answers, but gave support

This unknown territory was foreign to me yet, it became like home.

I slowly began to become comfortable and returned your embrace.

My embrace was a sign of accepting the new beginning.

This will not be like that last time

I wipe my tears and tell myself this

And somehow, I believe and know this to be true.
