no longer a child

What a world we live in

What is all instore

For a young girl will learn

There is so much more

She will grow her wings

And soar away

Away from her world

And of yesterday

Yesterday is short and sweet

It comes so fast and leaves us to weep

Weep for the childhood taken to fast

Weep for the young girl who lost her wings

For boys will be boys and men will be men

And take her wings and leave again

Leave her with a child to keep

Leave her no longer a child at all

But this girl will reclaim her wings

And leave this all

Because, after the pain

She is a child no more
