No Matter What
Take my money, Take my pride
Exhaust my mind, take their side
Hold me hostage against my will
Cut me until all my blood is spilled
Steal my identity and ruin my name
Throw me in prison to feel ashamed
Claw out my eyes, bash in my ribs
Fracture my ankles, force me to fib
Punch me until I fall flat on the ground
Then kick me until my pulse no longer pounds
Dunk my head in boiling oil
Call me names so my faith is soiled
Prevent me from seeing the people I love
Hang my body from somewhere above
Drown my peace with scenes of war
Break my wings so I cannot soar
Take my heart, tame my soul
Snicker at my ambitions and goals
Lead me into your greatest snare
Stick me in an electric chair
Turn the tables, lie to my face
Discriminate against my race
Do as you wish, place me in any jam
But no matter what, you can’t change who I am
