No More
Laying there shaking in her bed with fright,
Praying he won’t come near tonight.
Why does it have to be like this?
Why can’t he just leave me be?
I know he knows his actions are amiss.
But God, for some reason you chose this for me.
I feel so helpless, laying there still.
Maybe it will pass quickly and he’ll get his thrill.
Oh, how I want to just let out a shrill.
But I know he’d prove me wrong with his superior skill.
In nothing tangible can I find my rest,
Always being on guard and ready to face the pest.
Lord, you can see my whole life,
You promise me joy and peace.
You’re here to give me strength through the strife.
You’re all that I need to get through this crease.
The dawn breaks as the neighborhood awakes
And the sun must have never brought such relief.
I no longer have to feel my heart’s aches.
For I know that this life, those nights, are oh so brief,
And You’ve promised a day with no more grief.
