No More Pain

Inebriated and irate He marched to where I slept, Stumbling - Silent - He slowly crept I lay in bed - Too tired to speak, Out of the darkness The door begins to creak I turn my head As he comes near I feel his anger I'm full of fear I feel his hand Slap! - Across my face Wishing so much For mother's embrace - I scream and cry But no one hears - As he leaves, I wipe my tears I run to the kitchen And grab a knife On this dark night I will end his life I run to his room And slam open the door - I stabbed him in the heart Not a second after four He can't hurt me anymore - I can live my life I have no one to thank Except for that knife.

I wrote this last year. I was inspired by Emily Dickinson's poetry while writing this.
