No Need
Do you think love is the real root of my dismay?
It's not like you can answer that, you're not me.
But you are free,
and free is all I want to be.
Free to roll in my own creations,
with all the trust and safety in the world,
to rest in certainty.
But love asks me to break these selfish patterns and take down the veil of vulnerability,
to nurture my promise to you.
It sees all my confusion, my fears, and says, "There is no need."
Yet all I can feel is need. The need to know and contort. To express and confess. To configure and stretch.
Despite that, love speaks in a language only my heart can understand.
It says, "There is no need for you to change, not for me."
And all my heart yearns to do is plea,
for the ability to truly see myself through the eyes of love.
All I feel is need.
