No One

A wolf in the night

a howl in the air

an unanswered cry

because no one is there

A little rose sapling

springs from the ground

squashed underfoot

because no one's around

A buzzing baby bird

pushed from the nest

hitting the ground

away from the rest

Not all can hear

the cry of the hurt

no one to help

the young from the dirt
