No One
If love was meant to sooth the weak and heal the injured
Then here I am,
Kneeling,
Weak,
and wounded
With No One to love me the way I need to be loved.
No One to kiss me the way I need to be kissed
No One to tell me that I'm beautiful on the days I wake up feeling everything
but beauty.
No One to look at me and see the greatness in me
When all I see is failure.
No One to protect me from the dangers I say don't exist
but secretly
I live in fear of meeting my undertaker in my own home.
If love was meant to relax my soul
Then here is my soul,
Broken,
Anxious,
and longing
For reassurance that tomorrow will be a better day
and in five years I won't remember this sadness,
This loneliness,
This emptiness
Even if I am indeed still in the same place,
alone,
empty,
and sad.
