No One Listens To Hormones

I couldn't cure cancer,

I'm not the next Steve Jobs

and I will never write a best-selling novel.

But I am not stupid.

Why, then, do adults shake my opinions off?

Does my age define my maturity?

Can I not stay up to date on current issues without scorn?

Should I not participate in discussions that don't contain dating or school subjects or my sports or

drama, oh, the drama!

They look not at my eyes, but the veil of hormones blurring my features.

They don't hear my view on tension in Russia, but encourage angsty heartbreak as I hint at trouble

with a boy.

When you are a teen, no one listens.

No one listens to hormones
