No Slipper NEEDED!
Once upon a time
There was a girl who refused to be another statistic
A woman just known as a side chick
She didn’t need a prince charming,
To come and save her from her life-- just to be his wife.
This a modern spell of an old fairy tale
How Cinderella didn’t need a glass slipper
Because being with a man wasn’t gonna fix her.
Once upon a time
There was a girl who defended herself
Instead of letting evil people defeat her and deplete her wealth
She didn’t need a fairy godmother and some magic,
All she needed was to believe in herself.
Once upon a time
There was a girl whose carriage was her own car
So she didn’t need to be loaned one.
Who didn’t need mice to become chauffeurs
Because she was able to drive and open her own door.
Once upon a time
She went to the ball not looking fancy
But as her perfectly imperfect self, ready to get dancey
The clock didn’t have to strike twelve—to change her back
Because changing in the 1st place for someone is whack.
Once upon a time
The prince never went looking for her
So she could fit into his dream
Because it wasn’t hers to be part of his team
Now it’s time
That Princesses don’t need a Prince
For them to know their royalty
We make our own dime and heart’s beam.
