No Stopping Me Now
God, how did I start? By setting pen to paper I suppose.
I could hold a pencil, and suddenly no one could hold me back. The feeling in my chest that just wouldn’t let up. Like a pressurized spring they seem to flow forth from me. I want to change the world, and I could! I don’t know if I yet know the power of the observations uttered from my lips, but I knew the power of the pen on paper. It was a power that no one could take from you. Your voice written in smudging ink on a fresh piece of paper could be everlasting while words faded gently into oblivion with the passing of time and the deterioration of memory. That is until someone thought to write them down and preserve them for posterity! I have yet to create anything worthy of publishing to the masses and am not yet heralded as a bard but I know that I too can weave the most important aspect of our culture into something that carries the weight of its meaning.
Words.
Words are beautiful, and painful and grief-stricken and hopeful.
Words can evoke warmth and memories or even terrify us to the depths of our soul. When I found that words could be so powerful. There was no stopping me.
My favorite poem of all time- Shel Silverstein’s “Invitation” invites us all to find the artist in ourselves.
So come with me “for we have some flax-golden tales to spin” (Shel Silverstein)
