No Substitute

Real talk, I appreciate all women but there's only one that could be my rib

To be forever my better half and bear my kids

The one I would provide for and for whom I would die

And would punish anyone who even threatened a single eyelash of her eye

My beautiful black woman who is worth the Earth

The original woman who's responsible for humankind's birth

Real talk, my Isis goddess, Cleopatra my wueen

From dark to damn near white and all shades in between

My Corettas who struggled with us, to my Harriets who led the fight

Honestly there's no more of a magnificant sight

Than my sisters

You are my addiction and I yearn for you when I miss ya

Loving every portion of you and I pray you continue to be a fixture

In my life

Real talk, our connection is deeper than that of a husband wife

It's more like I am the day and you are the night

You are the rejuvenation of our nation

Regardless of the situation that we are facing

From being crowned to being gunned downed

You're the first person I look for and you're alway's around

Real talk, there's no substitue for the woman who suffered my same misery

No substitute for the woman who knows our history

No substitute for the woman who is my perfect reflection

No substitute for the woman who has always kept me moving in the right direction
