No, Thank You *inspired by Edmond Rostand

"Ana, don't.

Don't settle; don't sacrifice.

Don't confine your life in a jar

Where no one can see

The greatness you'll be,

The good that you are."

Don't you see the wrong you're in?

My hour with the living has offered much more

Than this sticky candy you have in store.

You think me unwise, untimely to climb,

But the brightness is calling,

And I'm beginning to know why!

I can be a person who goes

Or stay all my life,

But one thing is certain

If I am truly to be

God's little woman. You see

These new views have I,

Which came not by chance,

Offered only pure insight,

And deepened my circumstance.

Though the cave from which I rise

Proves not any infallibility of mine,

The Eternities provide the principle;

Starry nights provide the dream.

I may fail, but I'll never be Blue.

Though I may cry, remember:

The tears of tiger may fall too.

It shall be difficult to become

All I have left behind,

But beneath my feet

And before my eyes and in my heart,

They will reign for all time.

The daffodils' dance my fade,

And my river may be stopped,

But will I deceive them?

I'd like to think not.

For often on that riverbend I will sit,

A bit of Earth mine own,

And think that if all summer was in one day,

It would be intelligible what I've sown.

Out of the cave I climb,

My questions and false steps

Proving me faithful in time.

In a jar my life may be,

But a jar is translucent,

Enlightenment shines through it

For everyone to see.

Ephemeral am I,

On the end of a spindle may I go,

But the difference I will make

Shall bloom and blossom and grow.

"Don't" you say?

I won't.

For glory silence the dragonflies

That loved among the few?

No, thank you.
