No Words
Would that I were silent
and that my thoughts
could be shown to you through the sighs of the fallen pine needles.
Would that God was a being that I could kiss and hold
a being that I can
understand and know.
There are
no
words.
I haven’t any for you Spirit.
I’m sorry.
If the ever present moon could
show us all that it knows
maybe we would not be so angry.
If the sun could glow more brightly
and sear us all to the point that we are ash beings
red and blistered and ready to rise again.
I am ready to be born anew.
I have been baptized in water.
In burning sand I have been baptized
I have fallen and tumbled through air waiting to land where I am known.
I have strayed God.
I placed myself in the embrace of a soft knife on
whose edge I have walked until my feet bled.
I
have drifted
for so long.
I have forgotten how to move my legs.
