The noble men in blue

The noble men in blue were all sworn in to protect our lives at all costs

But that missions statement is either false advertisement or has surely gotten lost

What’s the difference between your bullet that leaves me lifeless, than a gang bangers on the street?

Yours is ordained and sanctified by the government so justice is who you never get to meet

You should tattoo teardrops on that badge of yours to show off all the lives that you stole

How can I call 911 on my abuser when it’s you beating me in the street with your pole

I don’t look like a criminal, in your eyes every criminal looks just like me

A better use of my time would be going on a shopping spree, for my tombstone to be

And it should have your autograph on the front  of it so that the world never forgets

Because my blackness was the weapon you saw, I’m even still a threat lying in this casket

I could surrender, hands up don’t shoot and those will still be my very last words

Even with me on my knees and my hands in the air you felt attacked, and my plea you never heard

The saddest part is I feel more in danger whenever you arrive

With both crime in the street and murder by your protector, it’s impossible to survive

You make my cuffs too tight and bang my head too hard just to send a message

Yet im holding onto the past and playing victim the moment I mention your white privilege

Brand nypd into my skin with the gun smoke still lingering in the air

now I gotta tell my kids no water guns in the street, say yes sir after every question, for the day they meet you I must prepare

History repeats itself because this is definitely genocide at its finest

But no matter how hard you try to pluck us off one by one our fist always rises

We may mourn those we’ve lost but in unity we will always become one

I don’t care about your discomfort because did you care about his when you were shoving bullets into somebody’s son?

We will never bow down and the fight won’t end until police brutality no longer exists

And when we’re finished all you and your fellow bigots will have left to do is sit and reminisce

You are the animals that need to be tamed so through legislation and protest you’ll be put on a leash

If I’m not mistaken it was NWA who said it best

Fuck the police
