Nobody Has The Right To Knock It Down
She looks into the mirror
Wondering why everything’s got so much clearer
Her mother comes walking in and puts her hand on her daughters shoulder
Asking her if she now understands what the fighting was for
Her daughter holds back the tears that she’s been holding back for a while
She knows that she can’t hold it back much longer
Her mother looks at her and goes
“My little girl, I gave birth to you
My sweet darling angel that I’ve grown to give my life to
Don’t let nobody bring you down
I made your heart and nobody has the right to
The right to Knock it down”
The boy from across the room
He broke her heart in two
Promised he would be there till the end
But his end was shorter than the life they spend
She looks at him but knows she can’t let him knock her down
She remembers the day she went home crying
After the breakup, she felt like dying
She runs into her mothers arms
Her mother looks at her and goes
“My little girl, I gave birth to you
My sweet darling angel that I’ve grown to give my life to
Don’t let nobody bring you down
I made your heart and nobody has the right to
Knock it down”
She goes to school
Watches as the kids go by
She wonders what’s it like to have a good life
With not having to fight
Just to make herself strive
And hold herself up high
She grew up without a father
A stable home life
She knows what disappointment feels like
Having her heart broken time and time again
But she’s still willing to fight
Time and time goes on
She has a daughter of her own
Her daughter looks at her with tears in her eyes
She too young to understand why her mothers crying
But her mother looks at her and goes
“My little girl, I gave birth to you
My sweet darling angel that I’ve grown to give my life to
Don’t let nobody bring you down
I made your heart and nobody has the right to
Knock it down”
