#nofilter
Are pictures "real" nowadays?
With endless filters, edits, and angles,
our sense of self becomes defined by how many likes we get .
Gone are innocent pictures of nature or silly pictures with friends.
Instead, blurry and altered snapshots of our "perfect" lives take its place.
Teen drinking, partying, and pretending that we are already grown up.
But is anyone really ready?
Is anyone really happy?
Or are we putting on a facade, giving off the illusion of being independent adults?
The figurative and literal filters I put on my pictures entice others in believing that everything is picturesque.
Without filters, I see images of how they were in that exact moment.
Without filters, no one can sense that I am nervous about growing up.
Nervous about living alone, and nervous about the future.
Millions preach the message of living in the present.
But then why are we so eager make others believe that we are adults?
After all, what's a good picture unless it has hundreds of likes?
