The Noise

“I stood alone in a crowded doorway

My tears silenced by the echo of voices

I was chained to the world’s perception of beauty

That I grew to hate my own reflection

The likeliness that I would belong

Could only be diminished by the emptiness in my body

I stood alone in a crowded doorway

Only to be silenced by my own voice.”
