Saying you're a man

while wearing a skirt

baffles people.

"How can you

call yourself a man

when your voice is so high,

your body is hour-glass shaped,

and you are so small?"

"How can you say

you don't feel like a woman

when your hair is so long

that you may as well be Rapunzel?"

"How can you

stand to wear

pink?"

How can you

call yourself a man

when it is an arbitrary word,

a classification given to you

long ago when you were born?

How can you say

you don't feel like a woman

when we are all

just people?

How can you stand

to avoid wearing

a certain color?

Why does what I wear,

what I sound like,

what I look like,

have to define my gender?
