The Non-Senses of Love
Love is the taste of pennies in my mouth
As I pick myself up off the ground
And trust me love has a very distinctive sound
Such as doors slamming
Glasses and dishes shattering on the floor
My heart beating fast wondering if I can take much more
Love is feeling my back hit the wall as I try to back away
Feeling small when you enter a room
You leave me no space
Love has the familiar scent of whiskey
Mixed with the stench of fear
Which radiates off of my skin as you grow near
Love is the feeling of relief that overwhelms me as you leave the room exhausted
The feeling of emptiness when you awaken
Forgetting what you did
Love is the role on the bathroom floor as I erase any trace of evidence that says
you don't love me
Love is the smile you have when You walk through the door
Stopping in front of me to fall to the floor
Love is the sound of sobs and apologies
“Baby don't leave me please”
And love smells like flowers that convince me to stay
And chocolates make the taste of pennies go away.
