Normal

I’m mentally ill

I found out today

I can hear my parents talking in the other room

how are they going to pay for the therapy bill?

Started therapy today

laid on a big leather couch

got prescribed a dose of pills

I have to take everyday.

I’m sick of all this

don’t want to be stuffed full of medication

I don’t want to have to lay on a leather couch

and talk about my thoughts, my problems, my problems.

tired of being treated like a time bomb

cut the wrong wire, and the word will explode

I don’t want to be listened to

I don’t want to be heard

I want someone to hold my hand,

and promise never to let go

because they won’t care if i’m a ticking time bomb

and they will cut all the wires,

because it's all just a big lie

and they won’t listen to liars

I want to be treated normally.

a mental illness

is not a contagious disease

you’re not going to catch it if i sneeze,

I want to be treated normally,

because that's is what I am.

the word mental illness is just a diagnosis,

a word.

it doesn’t define who I am.
