NOSTALGIA

Mexican nights were

The most inimitably beautiful things in the world.

A cleansing plunge into the hot springs,

The most savory chai tea in the world
Brewing on a woodfire stove
The most luminous fire in the world,
Bringing light to put hearts
The sweetest songs in the world
Resounding in the sky

My love and I would sit
On our two person hand-crafted wood bench
And look up at the most beautiful stars in the world.
They weren't most beautiful because of their brightness
Or because of their quantity,
But because after all they have seen
They never give up on shining.
Now when I look to the stars
And am given the rare opportunity
To observe Jupiter and Venus,
I am filled with joy
I remember that a place does exist
Where all that filled the space
Where the smiles of beautiful people,
Stories of harder times,
And the love of God.
I can know friends across the world are looking at them
And remembering too.

There truly are things that cannot
Be written in any amount of words
Or captured by the most prestigious camera.
I visit this place in my dreams
I hold it in my heart
It is the story told by my lips
Until this world and I part
