Nostalgia

Every now and then, we lose ourselves in past realities
Our old feelings begin to resurface
"Come back, come back, don't leave, just come back... to me"
All we want to do is keep it a little while longer
For just one second
"Don't leave, just stay...with me"
It's only you, it's only me
Be free, happy, and whatever with no barriers or restriction
Wouldn't that be great?
I guess it's true what they say
It hurts to look back, there's so much not to ignore
Being so close only to let go,
giving into to fear instead of taking the L
Brings tears, arouses anger, and all the feels come rushing back
the highs, lows, and everything in between
Into my system, past my mind, and into my heart
This is wrong, it's the past I can't change it
I won't
I just thought I'd pay you a visit
Not to dig up old and rusted remorse or regret
Maybe to see how you've been since I left
Because whatever you have to offer, I remember
Smile, Turn, and never look back
