Not All Lessons Happen in a Classroom

 My first lesson was this:

Life isn't fair.

Sure, it seems simple enough,

But after a while times got tough.

Momma didn't eat so that I could.

She still doesn't and I'm starting adulthood.

Lesson Number Two:

There are words you can never undo,

Unsay,

Unfeel.

Lesson Three:

I used to think that the worst thing of all was that I could be me.

How far did I fall to think,

"I would be better off dead."

I was on the brink,

Of my own demise.

I didn't understand school or life,

I thought I would give up soon.

A teacher taught me how to read,

Poetry became the thing to impede,

The END.
