Not another brick in the wall

As a society, every individual has their own thoughts, feelings, ideas, and preferences. While growing up and being exposed to the world it is very common to fall into patterns and behaviors of others around you, but there is always at least one detail that can make a person stand out from the rest. Out of my friends I'm often seen as the rational, honest, and even the goofy one, even though sometimes I don't feel like that really sets me apart from everyone else. I can be seen as rational because I know how to use my head and think before I take action. Past experiences have given me practice on how not to lose my head in a heated situation because it isn't very productive. It's easier to step back and take a breath than it is to run in with an unclear head and no plan because it can have some serious consequences.

I can also be seen as a very honest person. Sometimes that can be a good thing, sometimes it can be seen as I'm coming off rude and a little harsh. I feel it's better to speak your mind rather than keeping it in because everyone has a voice for a reason and that reason is to share your thoughts and feelings with others. I've always been taught "it's not what you say, but how to say it", so I try my hardest to be sympathetic towards people, but the truth can hurt. Not everyone is built to hear the truth because it's not what they really want to hear so that can cause me to lose a lot of friendships. Knowing this is a little sad, but I have strong faith and confidence in who I am and continue to share the truth, which can also set me apart from other people.

If you were to look me up as one word in the dictionary it would most likely be "stable." Even though my friends see me as one way, I will always see myself as another. It's always difficult to see yourself how others see you. It's like looking at yourself in the mirror. What you see is not what others see. John Lubbock once said, "What we see depends mainly on what we look for." Because of my past situations, I look for someone to be honest and rational to me. So I decided to try and see myself as that person.
