Not a Child Anymore

Usually frustrated and lazy

When asked to do anything,

Open my eyes, so hazy,

Was only a child

This is how I would think, feel,

Adolescences hit and I started to heal

Innocence is the word

To describe childhood,

But responsibility is the real deal

That I caught a grip on

Every time I made a meal

Around the time of growing up

From late childhood to teens,

My cooking skills showed up

Being able to turn the stove on, making beans

Never could I have gone near fire

But here I was getting farther

Growing up included responsibilities

Ones I never accepted,

But here I am six years later

With a different perspective,

Living matured and greater
