not enough

the dark of the night
I lay awake
forcing my eyes to close
but the mere thought of something lurking in the dark
is the opposing force
the dark overwhelms my mind
not even 100 sheep could
allow my mind to escape
the chains of fear
the chains on me
the chains across my chest
and around me bed
I'm chained
down to my most
deep inner thoughts
I can't escape
I'm trapped
in the dark with my thoughts
and the luminescent starlight from light years away
Seep through the
slits of the blinds
but that glimmer
my glimmer of hope
my only comfort
isn't enough
