Not Existence, But Absence
Complexity is human nature.
We like to be
Contradictory,
Hypocritical,
We strive to be the best,
And always search for competition,
Yet we love.
We care, we fall,
We bare our hearts,
All our flaws,
And allow ourselves
Vulnerability to another,
All for something so
Intangible,
Yet perfectly there.
And we say it,
We exclaim it to the world,
We murmur and whisper it,
Lay it into the hearts of others,
And let them know our actions are
Because I love you,
And I'm happy with you
Because I love you,
And I'm worried about you
Because I love you,
And I want success for you
Because I love you,
And I want the best for you
But love does not hurt,
Despite what people may say;
Absence of love hurts.
When you have
No love being returned,
Loving so much only
To find it being
Tossed aside,
Lack of love
Hurts unbearably--
But love does not.
Because I love you
And I want you to only see me,
Is not love.
Because I love you
And I want to see all your texts,
Is not love.
Because I love you
And I want to be intimate,
You can’t say no,
Is not love.
Love doesn’t hurt;
Absence of love
Can kill.
