This is not Good-Bye
“This is not Good-Bye”
Written By: Angel Perez
The day I met my grandma, is a day that I hold dear, she cradled me in her arms, and gently eased my fears.
Little did I know, in my heart your love got tucked away, now that I am older, I wish God would have let you stay.
I creep into my Aunt Michelle’s room every now and then, you're to the left side of her bedroom; I’ve found you once again.
You're in a frame of pictures, surrounded by everyone you love, then I look at daddy, and know you're smiling from above.
I run and hug my Grandpa, I hold on to him oh so tight, he tells me you called me your Flower, I love it when he's right.
When I see Aunt Dalia, I sometimes get confused, I call her Grandma, and then realize she isn't you.
Although she loves me like you did, and they tell me there's no shame, and then somewhere amongst the conversation, I hear cancer is to blame.
I miss you as the days go by, but I know you're doing well, and Grandma here's a secret, my Uncle Michael and I think cancer can go to Hell.
Someday we'll meet again, and at your side I'll walk, and then you'll say I'm just like my daddy, because trust me, I can talk.
Well Grandma I must go now, and a tear I might shed, but I'm sure I will see you, when I'm sleeping soundly in my bed.
I know you're watching over us, as the days go by, and ALWAYS remember Grandma how much we all love you, so THIS IS NOT GOOD-BYE.
“Dedicated to my little sister Mariella, who inspired me to put down her innocent feelings on paper.”
