NOT GOOD ENOUGH

My mother said You are not good enough To travel abroad Let to talk of America You cannot go above Africa Either you here with me Doing dishes Or you get stamina For some laundry Her tinted arrogant smile Splashes of loathe and mockery You watch your mates Make it to debates Kuwait You can't make it straight Estimate your reasoning You are zero Am sitting by my notes Crying my thoughts Heavy blue into writing Don't quit Until I tweet Sink baby sink Dry dim dream Sink baby sink There is no way you can dream Abroad or merit America You are never enough Those words Her words cut my heart Smoothly as China cup Brazing off my skin Stripping me bare to nothing I will go wash some dishes Or grow my stamina into laundry After all Mother said I am not good enough To travel abroad.
