Not Just Some Norma Jeane

The prunes, they tell me it's absurd,

It's unwise, it could never be.

With wisdom false they advise

A path more traditional

Accompanied by certainty.

Bitter prunes are those forced to live

In limbo eternally.

But me, I will not listen to

Their sardonicism or

Settle for less than the trees.

Because I live for the hard work;

I live for the uncertainty.

I live for the disappointment

And all of the things it takes

To live the impossible dream.

It's a long and bumpy road

With trials--hard as they may seem--

But I am not, nor ever, a quitter.

For while now I may be just

Lil' ol' miss nobody Norma Jeane,

Someday soon I will be

The brightest star you've ever seen.
