Not A Kid.

I realized that I wasn't a kid anymore when I stopped playing with toys.

I realized that I wasn't a kid anymore when I moved up a grade, and started to get attention from a boy.

I realized that I wasn't a kid anymore when he broke my heart into tiny pieces.

I realized that I wasn't a kid anymore when I entered high school.

I realized that I wasn't a kid anymore when my childhood friends, or kids I have known but never got to know fully, die.

I wasn't a kid anymore when I went to my friends' funeral.

I wasn't a kid anymore when i broke down in class because another childhood friend has passed away.

I wasn't a kid anymore when I found out that a girl I met freshmen year passed away in her sleep.

I'm not a kid anymore.

I realized that I am not a kid anymore when i look in the mirror on graduation day, in my cap and gown, remembering all the friends who did not make it to today.

I'm not a kid anymore.

I am eighteen years old.

It still feels like yesterday, when I lost my youth.
