Not Lost at All
I didn’t lose you
a wrong choice of words.
I know exactly where you are.
With me.
In my heart.
My thoughts.
In that first cup of coffee.
In the sunrise over the mountains.
You walk with me,
woven through sadness and love,
held together by gratitude.
Your gift is still giving
unchanged in essence,
only in form.
You push me forward,
not searching,
not grieving an absence,
but learning a new language.
Your presence is permanent.
You smiling
at my changing life.
